I thought I would post this video to show more clearly the kind of scale that is needed to harvest water hyacinth in the Pantanal. Bearing in mind the possibility that hyacinth could be used as a source of fast growing biofuel, I think this provides some serious perspective. Personally, even having presented on the subject, I didn't really appreciate how thick the carpets of water hyacinth can get - it's one thing to talk about the concept and another to actually see it on the water. With advances in technology and some heavy investment, this could expand to become a more impactful method of control
